§ 11.09.040. Amendment to International Fire Code

  • (a) Amendment to Section 106.1. Authority to Inspect, Section 106.1 is amended to read as follows:

     The Fire Prevention Bureau shall inspect annually, or as often as necessary, buildings and premises, including such other hazards or appliances designated by the chief for the purpose of ascertaining and causing to be corrected any conditions which would reasonably tend to cause fire or contribute to its spread, or any violation of the purpose or provisions of this code and of any other law or standard affecting fire safety.

    (b) Amendment to WAC 51-34-900 Fire Department Access.

    Section 503 - Fire department access is adopted in its entirety except for the following amended subsections:

     503.2.1 Dimensions: Fire apparatus access ways can be narrowed to 15 feet wide for access to no more then 6 living units, that are single story in height and not more then 150 feet from an approved City street.

     503.2.7 Grade: The gradient for a fire apparatus access shall not exceed 14% after the first 50 feet.

    (c) Amendment to Section 508.5 Fire Hydrant Systems. Section 508.5 is amended to comport with Selah Municipal Code Chapter 11.30 Fire Hydrants.

    (d) Amendment to Section 1003 Fire Extinguishing Systems.

     Section 1003.1.2 Standards: Fire extinguishing systems shall be installed according to NFPA Pamphlet 13.

    EXCEPTION 3: Automatic sprinkler systems in Group R Occupancies four stories or less may comply with NFPA Pamphlet 13R. When residential sprinkler systems as set forth in NFPA Pamphlet 13R are provided, exceptions to or reductions in code requirements based on the installation of an automatic fire-extinguishing system are not allowed.

    (e) Amendment to Section 315.3 Outside Storage. Section 315.3 is amended to comport with Selah Municipal Code Chapter 2.04 - Storage of Fruit and Vegetable Containers.
